Hoima: Excitement Builds Among Christians Ahead of the Mbarara Archdiocese Bishops’ Arrival

Anticipation is running high in Hoima Diocese as Christians eagerly anticipate the upcoming visit of all the Bishops from the Mbarara Ecclesiastical Province, a gathering viewed as a rare and blessed opportunity, leading to extensive preparations and excitement among the youthful members of the congregation.

 

Anticipated Members 

Today, the Bishops from the five Dioceses of Kabale, Fort Portal, Mbarara Archdiocese, Kasese, and Hoima are set to convene in Hoima for their annual meeting, during which they collectively to discuss matters concerning the growth and unity of the Mbarara Archdiocese and issues concerning their respective Dioceses.

 

Expected in the Annual Mbarara Episcopal meeting, includes the Archbishop of Mbarara His Grace Lambert Bainomugisha, Rt. Rev. Robert K. Muhiirwa Akiiki from Fort Portal Diocese, Rt. Rev. Francis Acquirinus Kibira from Kasese Diocese, Rt.Rev.Callistus Rubaramira from Kabale Diocese, and Rt. Rev. Vincent Kirabo of Hoima Diocese, who is also the Host of the 2024 meeting scheduled for April 10-14.

 

In an interview with Jubilee Radio, Rev. Fr. Patrick Museveni, the Director of the Social Communications Commission in Hoima Diocese, expressed that the excitement among Christians, especially the youth, is palpable as they eagerly await the blessings that this special visit will bring.

He emphasized that this event will be remembered as a significant moment in the history of the Diocese of Hoima, showcasing the unity and universality of the Catholic Church.

The gesture, Fr Museveni explained, calls for collective efforts among the rest of the Christians in the Catholic Church as a wag of fostering development and overcoming challenges.

 

He equally mentioned that the Bishops would be arriving at different time intervals today giveen the fact that they were coming from various locations.

 

“However, We are confident that by 7:30 pm, all the anticipated Local Ordinaries will have gathered at Villa Yosefu Elderly Home in Rwenkoba Hoima for a welcoming dinner from where they will meet for the very first time before they can break off for personal administration.” He noted.

 

Regarding the program for the annual meeting, Fr. Museveni outlined the schedule that the Bishops will follow during their time in Hoima including the visit to Kabalega National Stadium some of the hand picked entrepreneurs for social economic development in the region among others, culminating in a Holy Mass at the Cathedral on Sunday April 14, 2024.

 

In 2023, the Fort Portal Catholic Diocese hosted the Mbarara Ecclesiastical Province Bishops for their annual meeting, with four Bishops in attendance, including the Bishop Callistus R of Kabale, the His Grace Lambert B Archbishop of Mbarara,  Bishop Vincent K of Hoima, and Bishop Robert Muhiirwa Akiiki of Fort Portal, who served as the Host.
