A team of staff from Joint Effort to Support the Needy (JESN) led by their director Nicholas Ategeka has recently on Tuesday delivered Easter Holiday packages and Scholastic materials to orphans who were abandoned by their father in the house following the maternal mortality of their mother.
Based in Katentebere cell, Nyakagongo ward Fort Portal Tourism City, the non governmental organization (NGO) aims at improving the quality of life of most vulnerable youth, orphans, children, widows and elderly through providing access to education, health, and economic empowerment.
The children stay in Rwebijuju Village, Kiyombya sub-county Bunyangabu district. Items included Meat, Rice, Sodas, Clothes, Soap, and Sugar, books, shoes, school bags among others.
Present was Rev. Fr. Francis Asaba Adyeeri the Parish Priest of Kyamatanga Catholic Parish who appreciated Nicholas Ategeka and team for the heartfelt support of the most needy children especially at the time when they didn’t expect anything to eat and dress up during Easter celebrations.
Fr. Asaba, who conducted holy sacrifice of mass for the orphans, asked them to focus on attaining quality education since they have gotten a well-wisher.
Nicholas Ategeka appreciated well-wishers that supported the charitable activity and asked all people of goodwill to join the cause of saving the troubled vulnerable children. The 3 boys and 3 girls aged between 2 and 6 years are currently surviving on handouts from well-wishers and working in people’s gardens.
According to the eldest child, they lost their mother in 2021 while giving birth to their last born. After some weeks of struggling to cater for the children in terms of school fees, meals, medical bills, the father decided to runaway unto date
