This morning, there was an air of joy and gratitude at the home of Joseph Mugenyi, the hopeful MP for Burahya County and senior auditor at the National Water and Sewerage Corporation. A delegation of 22 Christians from St. Peter’s Catholic Church in Kabarole District gathered at Mugenyi’s residence in Nyansozi Mugusu Town Council to present gifts, including goats, chickens, and other items, as a token of appreciation for his generous contribution toward the renovation of their church last year.
According to Asiimwe Stefano, the Lay leader at St. Peter’s and Head Catechist of Kijuranema Sub-Parish, who led the delegation, Mugenyi provided financial support for the renovation of the church in December. He explained that the church had been seeking 7 million shillings for the project, and Mugenyi’s contribution was vital in helping them reach their goal.
As a result, the community felt it was only fitting to express their gratitude.
Turyomunda Sylvester, Chairperson Council of the Laity at St. Peter’s Catholic Church and Kijuranema Sub-Parish, shared that Mugenyi’s support significantly alleviated the financial burden on the congregation, who had been raising funds for the renovation. His contribution accelerated the completion of the work, making the church leadership’s task much easier.
During the gathering, Mugenyi expressed his gratitude to the delegates and encouraged them to continue serving the Lord with dedication and a wholehearted spirit.
