Jubilee Radio is mourning the untimely death of its beloved staff member, Richard Tugume Omugaaya Ncoobe, Head of Sales and Marketing, who tragically lost his life yesterday in a road accident.
The Accident
According to a statement from Rwenzori West Police, delivered by PRO Vincent Twesige, a motor vehicle Reg. No. UAR 269L was heading from Harugongo towards Fort Portal at high speed. At Nyabukara, in a sharp corner, a motorcycle coming from the opposite direction lost control and collided head-on with the vehicle. The crash claimed the lives of both the rider and his passenger instantly.
The rider was identified as Edison Ategeka, aged 24, while the passenger was Richard Tugume, aged 34, a journalist with Jubilee Radio.
Staff Speak out
Rev. Fr. Douglass Warako Apuuli, former Director of Jubilee Radio, described Richard as a resilient and trustworthy person who remained steadfast during difficult times and worked tirelessly to strengthen the marketing department.
Rev. Fr. Ronald Musinguzi Atwooki, the current Managing Director of Jubilee Radio, called the incident deeply unfortunate, noting that Richard passed on at such a young age despite his goodwill and leadership. He remembered him as a unifying, faithful, and professional colleague who gave his best for the growth of the marketing department.
He also urged the community to keep Richard’s family and friends in prayer during this painful moment.
According to the tentative program, Richard’s body will be taken from Buhinga Mortuary today at 1:00 p.m. for public viewing at Jubilee Radio, before being transported to his ancestral home in Buhara Village, Bwanika Parish, Kichwamba Sub-County, Kabarole District.
He will be laid to rest tomorrow, August 26.
May his soul rest in eternal peace. Amen.
