At least 25 women’s groups in Kabarole district have been handed Sh 129.2 million under the Uganda Women Entrepreneur Program (UWEP).
During a ceremony at the district headquarters in Kitumba, Kabarole LCV Chairperson Mr. Rwabuhinga Richard urged the beneficiaries to manage the funds responsibly to combat poverty and enhance household income. He emphasized that women have a proven track record of effectively utilizing resources and expressed confidence that proper use of this money would drive household-level development.
Rwabuhinga encouraged the groups to engage in multiple projects and enterprises and noted that receiving UWEP funds does not preclude them from seeking additional support through the Parish Development Model (PDM) and other government programs.
The women expressed their appreciation for Rwabuhinga’s leadership and the NRM government’s support for women in development programs, highlighting that such attention was lacking in previous administrations.
Deputy Resident District Commissioner Paul Bwire Ogallo reaffirmed the government’s commitment to improving women’s livelihoods through various initiatives and advised beneficiaries to avoid diverting funds from their intended purposes.
