Kabarole district is set to roll out a mass Yellow Fever Vaccination exercise, to prevent the viral disease caused by mosquitoes.
Norah Kabahenda, the District immunization focal person, has revealed that the exercise is scheduled for June 9, 2023, targeting persons between 9 months to 60 years.
Kabahenda, pointed out that the district health department is now training different stakeholders including health workers who will be administering the vaccine to the target population.
“The exercise will be conducted at different health facilities in the district. Other health workers including Village Health Team (VHT) members and LCI Chairpersons, will station at a given point in each village to administer the vaccine.” Noted Kabahenda.
For learners who are currently in their respective schools, Kabahenda says that they will have vaccinations from both schools and their villages.

Richard Rwabuhinga, the Kabarole district Chairman has appealed to parents, local leaders and religious leaders, to mobilize people to participate in this exercise.
“It is always expensive to receive this vaccine on private arrangement since it’s a prerequisite for people traveling out of the country.Lets therefore join hands and make sure all eligible individuals are vaccinated”. Said Rwabuhinga.
In a recent tweet, the Ministry of Health clarified that the #YFCampaign23, will take place in a phased manner, Phase I covering the areas the most recently experienced a Yellow Fever outbreak.
The MOH, further revealed the districts prioritized for the activity as Kabale, Kabarole, Lira, Gulu, Hoima and Arua.
