According to the latest statistics from the Uganda AIDS Commission, Kabarole District has the second-highest HIV prevalence rate in Tooro Region at 10.6%, following Fort Portal City at 17.8%.
Rwabuhinga, made this call while addressing Local Council leaders of Kichwamba Sub-County during the District Executive Committee (DEC) tour held at the Sub-County headquarters.
He emphasized that the increase in HIV/AIDS infections has made the population vulnerable, hindering their involvement in productive activities.
Ongoing Development Projects in Kichwamba Sub-County
- Despite the challenges, Rwabuhinga revealed that the district has been able to undertake several key projects in Kichwamba Sub-County to enhance service delivery. These projects include:
- Construction of Kihondo Market at a cost of 590 Million Ugandan Shillings
- Construction of Kichwamba HC III at a cost of 860 Million Ugandan Shillings
- Construction of a staff house at a cost of 178 Million Ugandan Shillings
- Construction of Kichwamba Seed Secondary School at a cost of 3.8 Billion Ugandan Shillings
- Nyankuku Water Project
Mobilizing Citizens for the Parish Development Model (PDM) Program
Steven Rubeihayo, the Chief Administrative Officer (CAO), urged leaders in Kichwamba Sub-County to mobilize citizens to successfully benefit from the Parish Development Model (PDM) program. This initiative aims to improve the livelihoods of Ugandans at the parish level.
In the same meeting, Peter Bazira and Edina Mukarwizi, the area District Councilors, commended the district leadership for providing social services in Kichwamba Sub-County despite limited financial resources.
