Leaders from Kabarole district have expressed concern over the increased school dropouts in Kyanyawara primary school in Kiko town council Kabarole district.

According to the Kiko town council LC3, Bright Jabawo, the number of pupils who are dropping out from school is increasing compared to previous years thus attributing it to the mindset by parents towards education.

Jabawo, thinks that some parents think education comes last in their priorities whereby they absent children from school to go and work in the home gardens thus asking fellow leadership to join hands to curb the problem.

The chairperson further noted that some children also have refused to go to school defying parents to go to school but as the area leadership are in plans to have community sensitization after Easter.

The DEO Kabarole Rujumba Geoffrey disclosed that people should first change their mindset towards education saying that the only gift to give your child is education.

He has explained that educating a child needs combined efforts by the area leadership to ensure that children remain in school.
