Kabarole district Mairungi / Khat growers under their umbrella Kabarole Mairungi/Khat Growers and Transporters Association have insisted on seeking court redress over the controversial Narcotics and Psychotropic Substances Control Act 2023.
Johnston Tinkamanyire the Association Chairperson, implementation of the new law which he terms as unkind shall render unemployment and poverty to hundreds of households and individuals who participate in the cultivation and trading of the crop.
According Tinkamanyire the prohibition of cultivation and trade of Khat is not backed by sound scientific evidence hence appealing to the president to reverse the Narcotics Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Control Act 2023 that he recently signed into law
