Following the recent outcry of the broken bridge connecting districts of Kabarole and Kyenjojo by residents, Kabarole district Leaders have intervened and constructed a temporary bridge at Munobwa River to ease movement of people in these districts.
The issue
According to Clovis Kaseregenyu Bafaaki the LC1 Ntezi II in Hakibaale Sub county, the Munobwa bridge that Connects Hakibaale Sub County in Kabarole and Bugaaki Sub County in Kyenjojo district was last month swept away by the heavy rains.
This hindered people’s movement since they find it hard to cross. School children have reportedly found it hard to access schools that require crossing and pregnant mothers hardly access health facilities.
Leaders intervene
Speaking to residents yesterday, Richard Rwabuhinga the district Chairperson Kabarole, noted that the district allocated 18M Shillings to work on the temporary bridge for crossing, saying that confirmed money will be included in the next financial year’s budget for the construction of a permanent bridge.
Rwabuhinga, warned residents against theft of construction materials and called for patience as the district prepares to complete the proposed work in time.
The RDC Kabarole, Mr. Festus Bandeeba Apuuli ,commended the residents for the portrayed patience so far, but tasked them to guard against deadly Ebola and embrace all government programs.
According to him, bridges, schools among others cannot be beneficial if people themselves are not healthy.
George Kalyegira, the LC2 Kyabaranga decried the poor road network in Bugaaki Sub County, saying enough complaints have been presented in vain.
Kalyegira, commended the Kabarole district Leaders for being focused, timely, cooperative and transparent in delivering services to the residents.
