Kabarole, Man Murders Wife Over Domestic Violence Matters

The Territorial police in Kabarole are investigating the murder of a woman by her husband in a domestic brawl.

The deceased has been identified as Kobugabe Phionah, a female adult a resident of Muhwire village, Kiburara Parish, Hakibale sub-county Kabarole District, and the suspect has been identified as Ategeka Muhammad of the same area.

 

 

Preliminary findings indicate that on 15/09/2024 the deceased went to see his relatives at Buhinga Hospital however today at about 06:30hrs she was ambushed by the suspect and hacked, she was pronounced dead on arrival at Fort Portal Regional Referral Hospital Buhinga.

 

 

Ategeka Muhammad had a misunderstanding with the deceased and she relocated to her late mother’s house. Unfortunately, the Kobugabe (deceased) sustained injuries causing her death.

It is alleged during the fight the suspect used an iron bar and a hoe handle to beat the deceased.

 

 

 

A murder report has been opened up at Hakibale police vide 06/16/09/2024 and later CRB:259/2024 investigations have commenced. At the scene of crime relevant statements have been recorded.

Ategeka Muhammad husband to the deceased has not been arrested.

 

SP Vicent Twesige Public Relations Officer Rwenzori West told our reporter that the exhibits of a piece of iron bar hoe handle and broken stool have been recovered and the Body is at Buhinga Hospital mortuary for postmortem examination.

 

 

Twesige added that the Victims of domestic violence are encouraged to speak up and report their cases to relevant authorities like LCS, police child and family department amongst others.
