Karambi Primary School Head Teacher David Rubaihayo Optimistic that omputers will enable students to engage with modern technology and thrive in the digital age
In an effort to enhance computer literacy in schools and ensure accessibility to technology, the Rotary Club of Kabarole has donated seven computers to Karambi Primary School in Fort Portal North
The school head teacher and pupils were graciously presented with these computers by the current Rotary club of Kabarole president, Mariam Kuluge, along with the immediate past President, Rev. Fr. Charles Oyo, and other club members.
Why Karambi Primary?
Rev. Fr. Charles Oyo, the immediate past president of the Rotary Club of Kabarole, shared that these computers were a contribution from Rotarians outside Uganda who aimed to support a student from Karambi in embracing the digital world.
“We originally, planned to donate 20 computers to the school; however, due to bureaucratic challenges at Entebbe airport, 13 computers were temporarily held back” Noted Fr Oyo
He later gave an assurance that these computers will be released soon.
Reflecting on this initiative, the current President Mariam Kuluge emphasized that these computers were a gesture of goodwill from individuals who care about the well-being of the students.
She highlighted the Rotary club’s commitment to assisting underprivileged individuals in the community but expressed disappointment in the lack of a widespread culture of giving among Ugandans. Ms Kuluge, pledged to continue advocating for additional computer donations for the school, recognizing that 20 computers may not suffice for the 700 students enrolled.
