Rotary club Entebe, Kabarole and Kabale have donated 3 Tricycle ambulances to Kicwamba, Kasenda and Kabende health center IIIs to support mothers who deliver from these health facilities, under the Maternal and Child care health project.
While handing over the Tricycle Ambulances to the Kabarole district chair person Richard Rwabuhinga, at a function held at Kicwamba health center III, Peace Taremwa, the district governor Rotary club revealed that they do not want to hear again complaints of mothers failing to deliver from hospitals due to lack of transport.
500 million given to Wakiso Kabale &Kabarole
According to Taremwa, they have received more than 500 million shillings to run the project in the areas of Wakiso, Kabarole and Kabale adding that at the end of February and April this year they are going to have another batch of Ambulances.
He adds that they are going to equip water in all the considered 3 health center III’s by the end of this year.
Political leaders warned on owning the donated Vehicles
Dr. Richard Mugahi, the assistant commissioner in charge of reproductive and infant health says that the Tricycle Ambulances are not owned by the district chair persons, the health in charge but the community hence calling upon them to utilize it.
He says that they will be managed by a Tricycle management committee which comprises parish chief, sub county chief and village management committee.
Richard Rwabuhinga, the Kabarole district chair person, warned the community against selling off the Tricycle Ambulances and using them as general transport to the extent for transporting their agricultural products to markets.
