The Kabarole district Speaker Timothy Ruhweza, has warned parents against marrying off their under aged daughters.
He yesterday noted that some girls are dropped out of schools in Karangura Sub-County by their parents, only to be married off at costs of bride price.
Ruwheza made these remarks while addressing parents of Nyarukamba Primary School during the PTA meeting, on October 10, 2022, at the school premises in Karangura Sub-County.
According to him, even if parents marry off their daughters, the young girls can not sustain the marriage, given the fact that they have not experienced enough at the given inappropriate age.
Ruhweza encouraged parents to let their daughters remain in schools and complete their education level. He asked parents to continue supporting the school management to ensure quality education for their children.
Teachers advised to upgrade on their studies
The speaker, further advised teachers to advance on their studies so as not to lose their jobs in the nearby future.
Currently, the Grade III certificate is the minimum qualification for primary school teachers, while the Grade V certificate is the minimum qualification for Secondary School teachers.
However, according to Dr. Kedrace Turyagyenda, the director of Education Standards in the Ministry of Education and Sports, the new policy requires a teacher to have a Bachelor degree of Education in order to teach in either primary or a secondary school.

Kabarole leaders pledge to support the school
Kabarole leaders through Speaker Ruhweza, pledged to fully render their support for the betterment of Nyarukamba primary School.
Kabarole district has reportedly so far constructed classroom blocks at Nyarukamba Primary school and Kamabale Primary School, on top of upgrading Nyakitokoli Health center II to a health centre III.
Nyarukamba decries poor road network
Richard Rwabuhinga, the Head teacher Nyarukamba Primary, tasked the district to provide them with more teachers, noting that currently the school has ten teachers, with only six on teachers on government payroll.
He further complained of poor road network, a major challenge faced by the school goers, hence requesting the district to construct for them more roads.
In his response, Bahati Milton the male district councilor for Karangura Sub-County who is also the secretary for works, said that the district, currently does not have enough graders that can excavate roads in the mountainous areas.
Bahati requested the school leadership to bare with them the current situation, but promised to put their concern into consideration.
