Kabarole District and Fort Portal Tourism City have embarked on the Round 2 Accelerated Covid-19 Vaccination Campaign that will ensure the population eligible for the vaccines is immunized.
The Ministry of Health (MOH), is conducting Round 2 Accelerated Covid 19 vaccination campaigns countrywide, where Kabarole District and Fort Portal City are part of the institutions selected to take part.
According to the City Health Educator Stephen Muhenda Icuumu, the vaccination exercise will kick off on Thursday 17th next week and end on Tuesday the following week .This, targets those who had their first dose, new people and those that completed the two doses but need boosters. He explains that children from 12 years and above with morbidities (illness) will be getting their jabs.
Catherine Kemigabo the District Health Educator(DHE) Kabarole, says the regional launch will be at Mucwa Health Centre III, but appeals to Political leaders at all levels , Religious leaders and other stakeholders to take part in mobilizing people especially the elderly and those with morbidities, to come for the vaccination and booster doses.
She explains that places with high population have been designated for the Round 2 Covid-19 Accelerated vaccination outreaches in town and Kabarole district.
Anna Tukahirwa, the assistant District Health Officer, says although there are few cases of Covid-19 in the country, the government through the Round 2 Covid-19 Accelerated Vaccination campaign wants to increase vaccination, improve and protect its population from infections.
The deputy RCC Fort Portal Festus Bandeeba, wants all the people who missed vaccination and those who did not get the opportunity of getting the second jab, to go for the vaccination and protect themselves from infections.
However, according to the Ministry of Health, Fort Portal and Kabarole District have lowered down in the Covid-19 vaccination exercise by 50%
