On behalf of the First Lady and Minister for Education and Sports Janet Kataha Museveni, the Minister of Agriculture Frank Tumwebaze together with the Kibale East MP officially launched the construction of two seed secondary schools in Kibale East Constituency, Kamwenge District.
The event was attended by the District Woman MP Sylvia Baherira and other local leaders.
The schools, Ntonwa Seed Secondary School and Bisozi Seed Secondary School will cost approximately UGX 7 billion and will be constructed by TAMSAK Development Link. Speaking at the launch, Hon. Tumwebaze said, “Government has committed about 7 billion shillings to ensure that learners in Kibale East access quality secondary education facilities near their homes.”
He emphasized value for money, adding, “We expect the contractor to deliver work that matches the resources invested.”
An official from the Ministry of Education, Abanaitwe Asaph, noted that the project is expected to be completed within ten months. “The timeline is clear, and we urge the contractor to complete the work on schedule without compromising quality,” he said.
Hon. Baherira expressed confidence in the project, stating, “We have hope in the contractor to deliver quality structures that will serve our children for generations.” She added that the new schools will help address dropout rates after Primary Seven.
“With secondary schools closer to the communities, many learners who would have dropped out will now continue with their education,” she noted.
