A large number of residents in Kamwenge have observably embraced the Ministry of Health(MOH) program of Vaccination against Yellow Fever.

Kamwenge district, is among the districts listed by the MOH falling under the Kabarole region, which was declared prone to the disease.
William Togaya, the In-charge Kyabenda Health Center III, Kahunge town council in Kamwenge, has disclosed that locals, particularly rural dwellers have largely turned up at the established vaccination centers for the activity.
Togaya, attributed the massive turn up to ample awareness created among the residents through Radio adverts, town criers among others.
He was however quick to observe that some of the town dwellers are hesitant to get vaccinated, due to the myths and false information that whites concocted the vaccine in a bid to finish them off.
“Some of he town dwellers are hesitant to come for the vaccination, claiming that these are foreigner’s vaccines intended to kill people. We have however tried to enlighten them more about this and i think they are also getting feedback from the ones who have already been vaccinated.” Noted Togaya
In an interview with our reporter, Some of the residents that had gathered at Kyabenda claiming to have been vaccinated already, testified that the vaccine is not as re-percussive as that of COVID-19.
“since we haven’t heard of any case of serious side effects after vaccination, this vaccine could be fairer than that of Covid 19.” They claimed
The Kamwenge Resident District Commissioner RDC, Isiah Kanyamahane Byarugaba, who was on his supervisory role, established that all the vaccination centers were doing well, which portrays good mobilization.
The Vaccination exercise against Yellow Fever, in Kabarole region will end on Tuesday June 14.
