Deepening prayer
During his homily on the final day of confirmations, Bishop Muhiirwa emphasized the importance of being guided by the Holy Spirit, drawing parallels to the disciples on Pentecostal day. He cautioned the newly confirmed against the allure of emerging religions, advising them to deepen their prayer life through traditional Catholic prayers and the reception of Sacraments, particularly Eucharist and Penance.
The prelate , also encouraged the practice of adoration of the blessed Sacrament to foster a closer connection with Jesus Christ, steering individuals away from false teachings propagated by counterfeit pastors and witch doctors.
Relating to their growth in religion, Bishop Muhiirwa advocated for communal prayer among the newly confirmed within small Christian communities and church movements as a means to strengthen one’s faith.
On his part, Rev. Fr. Jude Kasaija, the Parish priest of Christ the King Kitumbi parish, expressed gratitude for the Bishop’s visit and highlighted the importance of parental involvement in educating children to combat unemployment and poverty in the region.
Fr Jude who noted the low zeal by parents to educate their children, is convinced that this could be the reason as to why most of the residents are still low income earners.
He called for equitable treatment of the church in government programs, citing the example of electricity distribution where the church premises were never allocated electricity poles.
Hon. Richard Rwabuhinga, the Kabarole District Chairperson, echoed Bishop Muhiirwa’s sentiments, urging the newly confirmed to remain steadfast in the Catholic Church amidst the proliferation of churches. He emphasized the district’s progress in infrastructure development, including road construction, electricity provision, and the establishment of Kihondo Market to stimulate trade.
As the second term commences, Rwabuhinga emphasized the importance of parents ensuring their children return to school, underscoring the significance of education in shaping a prosperous future for the community.
This event, not only celebrated the confirmation of individuals into the Catholic faith but also served as a reminder of the challenges and opportunities facing the Kitumbi Parish and Kabarole district as a whole.
