It was Joy and prayer as hundreds of parishioners from St. Jude’s Holy Cross Parish Kyarusozi thronged Kicuucu–Kyarusozi streets in Mwenge Central to honor the image of Mary, Mother of the Word alias Our Lady of Kibeho during her visit to their parish.
The procession began at Our Lady of Fatima Kicuucu Catholic Parish, where the image had spent a night, with devotees of Mother Mary joining the procession on foot, on boda bodas, and in car convoy, singing Marian hymns of praise and honor.
Olive Baguma Mirembe, The President Kyarusozi Curia, expressed gratitude for the faith & devotion portrayed by parishioners, an indicator that the community is ready to embrace and live by the message of Our Lady of Kibeho.
Godfrey Muramira, another parishioner, remarked on the timely nature of the visit, especially as the country prepares for national elections. He urged fellow believers to embrace the message of peace and to refrain from spreading messages of hate in the forth coming elections.
Visionary message still applicable to today’s world
During the Mass held to welcome the image at Kyarusozi parish, the main celebrant, Rev. Fr. Adolf Businge, reflected on the central messages that Our Lady of Kibeho gave to the three visionaries, Natalie, Maria Clara, and Alphonsine. These included a call to sincere prayer, especially the Holy Rosary, praying for peace in a world marked by hatred, jealousy, and conflict, and interceding for the Church, which faces trials and persecution.
Fr. Businge also called for the need of conversion, repentance, and forgiveness, stating that the message remains deeply relevant to today’s Christian community. He encouraged the faithful to reflect on their personal relationship with God and to turn away from anything that draws them apart from Him.
He affirmed the authenticity of the apparitions at Kibeho Rwanda, noting that they were officially recognized by the Vatican and are fully in line with Church doctrine. Unlike false visionaries from sources such as witch doctors, Fr Businge said, the messages from Our Lady of Kibeho are meant to build and strengthen the Church.
With this visit, Kyarusozi Parish becomes the 30th parish in the Diocese of Fort Portal to host the image of Our Lady of Kibeho during this month dedicated to the Holy Rosary.
