Kyakatara Health Center III in Bugaki subcounty Kyenjojo district with support from USA based NGO Children Waiting Everywhere have purchased a vehicle to offer free transportation to mothers after childbirth. The efforts aim to reduce maternal deaths caused by lack of transport, as some mothers previously delivered on roadsides or lacked access to prompt care and transport back home after dismissal
Dr. Julius Kusemererwa the facility in-charge, noted that the facility recently underwent upgrades to enhance services for residents but has been lacking transportation means especially for mothers seeking antenatal services before and after giving birth. This will improve access to maternal healthcare, ensuring safe transport for mothers and newborns.
Miss Naomi Corera, who lobbied the funds for the developments, extended her gratitude to Children Waiting Everywhere for their generosity and commitment to humanity.
Joseph Ayebazibwe chairperson finance Kyakatara health center III said the vehicle will help address the shortage of transport and equipment, reducing risks for mothers in rural areas.
