As they jubilate over festivities of the resurrection of Jesus Christ this year, Christians have been reminded to let their actions and words reflect the goodness of Christ’s humanity rather than putting him back on the cross.
The appeal was yesterday sounded by Bishop Robert Muhiirwa Akiiki, the local ordinary of Fort Portal Catholic Diocese in his homily to hundreds of Congregants that turned up at Virika Cathedral ( Bishop McCauley hall) Fort Portal City to mark Easter Sunday a day that Christians world over commemorate the resurrection of Christ, the third day after the beginning of the passover.
Using Easter for Renewal
Bishop Muhiirwa, urged Christians to embody Christ’s teachings through both their words and deeds, emphasizing the importance of manifesting Christ’s compassion and goodness in their everyday lives.
The Bishop who highlighted the symbolism of the Easter candle as a beacon of hope, encouraged the pursuit of justice within believers, while denouncing corruption, abuse of power, and hatred.
He also stressed the virtue of forgiveness, drawing parallels to Christ’s forgiveness of his crucifiers, and urged believers to let go of resentments and common hatred and support one another. Additionally,
Fort Portal’s local ordinary Muhiirwa, was particular about the significance of drawing closer to God, particularly through the sacrament of Holy Eucharist, during times of adversities and challenges.
He encouraged Christians to trust in God’s plan and to approach life with a renewed positive perspective.
