Hundreds of Congregants have gathered at Virika Cathedral Fort Portal City, to thank God to and dedicate the new year to God.
World day of Peace
Today being a world day of peace as declared by Pope Paul Vi, believers have been rallied to find ways of establishing peace right from their families, communities and work places as part and partial of their respective new year resolutions.
The call was made by the Rt.Rev Dr. Robert Muhiirwa Akiiki, in his today’s homily, that also reflected about different areas including the new year.

Realistic Resolutions
His Lordship Muhiirwa, further implored Congregants to make realistic and achievable new years resolutions, which they should often evaluate as the year goes by.
According to Bishop Muhiirwa, if they plan for too many activities, Christians may fail to concentrate on their desired plans of the year.
“At the beginning of each new year, we are all called upon to make new year resolutions and preferably put it in writing. After a period of about 6 months, one should go back and evaluate how far they have gone with achieving what they had planned. But as you set objectives, make realistic ones because if you chase many objectives at ago you will lose focus and fail to achieve” Said Bishop Muhiirwa.
Hon. Linda Irene Nyinabarongo, Woman Mp Fort Portal City who attended the same Mass, congratulated Believers upon successfully ending a tough year 2022, and urged them to observe peace in their homes, but most importantly aim at doing away with gender based violence come 2023.
Hon. Alex Ruhunda, Mp Fort City who doubles as the Chair person Virika Cathedral renovation Committee, rallied members to double efforts in gathering funds for renovation since the physical work is slated this year.
Bishop Muhiirwa, on the very issue revealed the increment of the budget by over 300 million, following the hiked prices of materials they initially had planned to use.
