Many Elders And Children Facing Challenges Of Water Accessibility In Kabarole.
Many elderly women and children in Kabarole district are still facing challenges of water accebility thus has resulted into problems.
Grace Mugasa Karungi the director Christ aid international an none governmental organization which supports the vulnerable elderly persons and needy children the Kabarole district has disclosed 80% elderly persons especially women and children below the age move long distances to access water in the district.
She states that some girls have got problems of early pregnancies and raped by some irresponsible men who take advantage of them when fetching water citing one of a 14 years old girl under her organization that has been defiled when she has gone to fetch water from the well which is far from home.
She said this during the official launching of a 740M water project in the two sub counties of Kasenda and Kichwamba in Kabarole district by African Agency or integrated development (AAID).
Asuman Kisembo the executive director AAID has disclosed that the project is going to take one year starting from September 2020 to August 2021.
This will revamp the issues of sanitation and hygiene in the two sub counties by reducing the water born diseases.
He stated that the district Kabarole is going to do supervisory work whereby they are going to develop managerial skills of existing water management, developing water boards among others.
Asiimwe Steven the resident city commissioner Kabarole and fort portal Steven Asiimwe has said that the water project will move on well if the funds are well utilized by the contractors.
He states that for any project to be a success there should be a focal person from the district level and community involvement.
