The Archdiocese of Mbarara is heartbroken over the sudden loss of Rev. Fr. Wycliffe Byamugisha, who tragically died in a road accident while returning from celebrating Mass this afternoon.
In a somber announcement shared on social media, the Archdiocese confirmed the passing of Fr. Byamugisha, who has been serving as a curate at Nyabuhikye Parish in Ibanda District.
While no official statement from the police has been released, Rev. Fr. Fidelis Betungura, Director of Radio Maria Mbarara, reported that the accident originated from a head-on collision between Fr. Wycliffe’s vehicle and a milk tanker along the Kabagoma-Ibanda Mbarara Highway, resulting in his immediate death.
Witnesses at the scene described the horrifying sight of a beloved servant of God lying lifeless, just moments after finishing Mass. The loss of Fr. Wycliffe, who had only six years in the priesthood, leaves a deep void in the hearts of many.
