Residents of Kiiko town Council who have been trekking to access health services from Fort Portal Referal Hospital (FRRH), are hopeful after the Kabarole district Leaders launched the construction of a 900m Health Center III.
About the work
The work awarded to Mariam And Brothers Trading Company Ltd, will be completed in 18 months and will include a maternity ward, general ward, children’s ward, and staff house among others.
The Minister of State for Local Government and Woman MP Kabarole Hon.Victoria Businge Rusoke called on the area local leaders to monitor the construction works and report glitch work to the authorities.
She further tasked the Constructor to save the leaders names by producing quality work.
Minister Rusoke, advised the Chief Administrative officer to ensure paying the contractor in time to deter delay of completion of works hence calling for cooperation, unity and coordination.
Richard Rwabuhinga the District Chairperson Kabarole warned the contractor that the district will not tolerate shoddy work, ensure value for money and will not hesitate to demolish the structure once defects are detected.
He noted that the health center is in fulfillment of the NRM manifesto under President Yoweri Museveni in a
bid to extend quality health services to the people.
Rwabuhinga, called on Local leaders to guard against theft of construction materials which compromises quality work, the contractor give jobs to the local people and pay them as mandated.
Hon. Mutasi Christine, Kwikiriza Edinali the area district Councillors and Bright Jabawo the LC3 Kiiko, commended the district leaders for the facility saying the Town Council has been operating without a health center and people have been trekking to FRRH to access health services.
