The shs 11.3 billion Market was constructed by the Government of Uganda in 2013 in Fort Portal Tourism City.
It is one of the modern Markets countrywide that were built under the Markets and Agricultural Trade Improvement Programme (MATIP-1)a Multi-million dollar project supported by the Government and the African Development Bank.
However, the market has started leaking leading to vendors counting losses.
According to vendors, their merchandise has got spoiled due to the rains that come from the roof leaving them in losses.
Yesterday in a heavy downpour, many Vendor’s merchandise were spoiled by the rain, a thing they condemn the authorities to fail in monitoring the market.
One Basemere Sarah dealing in clothes said that all her clothes were spoiled by the rains.
One Musime said that his shop was full of water which he couldn’t manage to handle due to a leaking roof.
However, the Mayor Central Division Richard Muhumuza has disclosed that the City Engineer responsible for buildings is going to inspect the Market as they solve the problem.
