Koboko Municipality MP and State Minister for Investment, Evelyn Anite, has scoffed at the National Unity Platform for demanding President Museveni’s academic papers after the many years he has spent running the country.
According to Anite, Museveni has governed this country very well to the extent that he doesn’t need to avail his academic documents to show his ability.
Anite’s comments come amidst many queries as to why Electoral Commission has refused to avail the public Museveni’s academic papers.
Recently, a city lawyer Muwada Nkunyingi, a member of the National Unity Platform (NUP), insisted that he wants the EC to avail him with Museveni’s academic documents and not explanations.
In its recent response to the lawyer, the electoral body told the lawyer that President Museveni’s nomination in the 2016 presidential elections did not require verification of his academic documents.
The EC said Museveni’s papers are governed under section 4 (15) of the Presidential Elections Act 2005 (as amended).
“What academic papers is NUP (a kampala based party) looking for when the indomitable H.E Yoweri Kaguta Museveni is a professional driver who’s been driving the NRM bus and Uganda for more than 30 years without causing accidents?” She queried.
In a tweet, Anite said NUP should just relax and wait for 2021 election results.
Previously known as Yoweri Kaguta Museveni, the president recently announced in a deed poll that he will now be known as Yoweri Tibuhaburwa Kaguta Museveni.
Nkunyingi has tasked the Electoral Commission to avail him with the academic papers of ‘Yoweri Kaguta Museveni’ and not those of ‘Yoweri Tibuhaburwa Kaguta Museveni’.
