The Local Ordinary of Fort Portal Catholic Diocese, Rt. Rev. Dr. Robert K. Muhiirwa Akiiki has on Saturday led the launch of the Ultra Sound Scan at Nkuruba Health Center III Kabarole District.
Bishop Muhiirwa, led the launch shortly after presiding over the Women’s Day Celebrations Mass, at a function organized by Rev. Sr. Jane Frances Kabagaju the In charge Nkuruba H/C III, who designed the day as a way of creating awareness of safe pregnancy among expectant mothers and exhibiting the value of a woman in the current world.
At the launch, Rev. Sr. Jane Frances Kabagaju who unveiled the introduction of Ultra Sound Scan services at Nkuruba Health Center III, explained the key role of the move as to combat maternal mortality through early detection of pregnancy complications.
According to Sr. Kabagaju, much as the facility has been able to secure the Ultra Sound Scan, they are still facing a challenge of not having a full time sonographer, since they cannot raise suitable remuneration for a professional sonographer in the country, which currently stands at 1.5million shillings.
Christians asked to emulate Christ’s boundless Love
Earlier Before,Bishop Muhiirwa who led the day’s holy Mass, encouraged Christians to embody the boundless love exemplified by Jesus, with key emphasis on His sacrificial act of forgiveness on the cross.
In his homily,Bishop Muhiirwa praised women for their courageous love, citing biblical figures like Mary, Mary Magdalene, and Mary of Clopas, who stood by Jesus until the end. He urged believers to deepen their spiritual practices during Lent, emphasizing prayer, fasting, generosity to the less fortunate, and acts of love.
Stressing the importance of sustaining these practices beyond Lent, Bishop Muhiirwa underscored the enduring nature of such virtues.
Government to higher a sonographer at Nkuruba H/C
Responding to the appeal, Hon. Margaret Muhanga, State Minister for Primary Health Care and the event’s Chief Guest, pledged to advocate for the request within the ministry, offering hope for the community’s imminent acquisition of a sonographer.
