Classy St George Clinic Football Club will play in the Kitara Regional League next season after one season In the Kabarole District League. Addressing the media, the club President Mr Kamara Vincent Ateenyi Confirmed this development on Saturday evening in a Press conference held at the Club Offices in Kahungabunyonyi , Fortportal City.
“We have finalized an agreement with Fort City FC Formerly Volcop Fc management to take over their Name and status in Kitara regional league next season and we are ready to compitee” Kamara Said.
The Knights as their are Nicknamed, began their Soccer Journey in 2018 as a Corporate Club playing in the Inaugural Tooro Corporate League where they merged as the Champions in their miden season. In September 2019, St George Clinic Management Separated the Junior’s from the seniors which led to the birth of St George Clinic Fc which compited in the 2019/2020 Fourth Division in Kabarole District and led the table before COVID-19 breakout which led to the cancellation of District Leagues Uganda and disrupted their mission to Join Regional League. This was not the end of St George Clinic Fc as they continued play friendly Games and Branding Around Tooro Region.
Few days back, St George Clinic Fc tried to Aquire Harugongo FC Status in the Kitara Regional League but it ended in vain as Harugongo FC Management Failed to complete the deal on the last hour due to unknown reason.
The club Manager Mr Rujumba congratulated the fans and said that, they are going to Strengthen their Squad in order to hit the club target’s. “I want to thank God and our fans for supporters and this achievement, we have a big test ahead but this what we having been fighting for” Rujumba Said.
Three months back, The Federation Of Uganda Football Association through their Competitions Department allowed Volcop Lions FC to change their name to Fortportal City FC.
It’s Believed that, Fort Portal Tourism City Council and a Group of Businessmen’s are in plans of taking off Tooro United Fc from the old management which may led to the change of the name from Tooro United Fc to Fortportal Tourism City Fc in order to promote the Tourism city.
