National Unity Platform leaders Tooro sub-region have started mobilizing their supporters to participate in the planed peaceful demonstrations against 2021 presidential elections results.
Recently National Unity Platform NUP party leader Robert Kyagulanyi alias Bobi Wine called for demonstrations in protest of the Electoral Commission EC declaration of Yoweri Museveni as the winner of the January 14th presidential elections.
Last week while appearing on one of the local radio stations in Fort-portal Thomas Kakuru one of the NUP coordinators Tooro region said that there was no plans of carrying out peaceful demonstrations in the region regardless of calls by Robert Kyagulanyi aka Bobi Wine.
However our reporter has obtained a letter dated 17th March 2021addressed to members of the public encouraging them to disregard Kakuru’s statements as null and void because he does not speak for the party.
The document signed by Innocent Natukunda the team leader NUP party Coordinators for Tooro sub-region instead rallies members of the public to mobilize and prepare for protests on the date that will be communicated.
As a party we call upon Ugandans to continue with the mobilization to peacefully demonstrate as per the constitution of the republic of Uganda and reclaim our victory as of 2021 general elections as well as the immediate release of the NUP supporters who are illegally detained and brutally kidnapped by the state operatives! reads part of the letter.
Natukunda says Kakuru made submissions on a personal basis and have nothing to do with the ideology and stand of the party, therefore his statements should be treated with contempt.
