The 90 year old government aided Primary School founded by the Anglican Church of Uganda under the Diocese of Ruwenzori in 1931 has since grown old and current classroom blocks are in sorrowful state.
The school head-teacher William Nyakahuma said that many of the classrooms are almost collapsing while some are condemned which put the lives of learners at dare risk.
During their second meeting held at the school premises on Thursday, old students resolved to embark on a mobilization campaign aimed at persuading each and every person that went through the school and bring them on board.
The meeting outlined a number of activities to be undertaken which include, Construction of new latrine blocks for boys and girls, Construction of a new modern classroom block, Administration block, Renovation of existing classrooms and installing desktop computers for learners since we’re in a digital world.
We have started laying strategies of mobilizing the funds because the whole campaign aims at pulling more than 350 million shillings. “Said William Nyakahuma the school head-teacher”
Musinguzi Reagan an old student and member of the organizing committee said that some structures are unfit for occupation. “So we decided to mobilize resources and carry out a major face-lift. This is a giveback to our school because it made us what we are today he added.
Some of the prominent old students of Kiburara Primary School include, Hon. Beatrice Kiraso former Woman Member of Parliament Kabarole district, Ben Manyindo former Executive Director UNBs, Retired Bishop of Ruwenzori diocese Benezeri Kisembo and Businessmen Erisa Kakyomya, Erika Abigaba, Case Katuramu among others.
