Police beat Tooro United in a Uganda Premier league game played at Buhinga Stadium in Fort Portal Tourism City.
Former Kitara Fc striker Brian Mayanja Mululi, Juma Balinya and Tonny Mawejje scored a goal each as Police jumped out of the relegation zone.
It’s the successive win for Police who recently picked their first win against Busoga United at Lugogo.
It’s a commendable performance from Police led by their captain Mawejje and it comes at a time when the Peace Keepers are playing without suspended coach Abdallah Mubiru who recently appealed his ban.
However, Tooro who came into the game on the back of nine defeats on the trot, threw everything they had at the visitors and had several chances to get back into the contest.
Mark Nsubuga scored from the spot in the 10th minute but also missed a glorious opportunity to halve the deficit, failing to convert a penalty after a handball by Joseph Sentume. Tooro United Captain Denis Ojera also failed to find the target despite having the goal at his mercy with Police custodian Tom Ikara already beaten.
It’s the 10th loss for Tooro United who remain rock bottom with four points. Police who failed to win in any of their opening 10 games now climb out of the relegation zone into 13th with nine points on the Uganda Premier League table.
In their next fixtures, Tooro are away to SC Villa on Monday, December 29 while Police host Bright Stars two days later.
The other games played on Tuesday saw Vipers edge Bright Stars 1-0 at Kavumba while Gaddafi and Onduparaka shared spoils 2-2 in Jinja.
