The Rwenzori Agro-ecology Actor Platform (RAAP) recently celebrated its first anniversary, marking a year of dedication to transforming agricultural practices and policies. The platform was founded with the mission of fostering equity, justice, and ecological sustainability for the benefit of both current and future generations.
According to General Secretary Mr. Murungi Samuel, RAAP was established with several key objectives, including the promotion of agroecology, market development, sustainable natural resource management, food security, climate change awareness, and addressing malnutrition. Over the past year, RAAP has made significant strides in mobilizing and recruiting members from academia, research institutions, and NGOs across the region.
Looking ahead, Murungi shared that RAAP plans to engage in several activities next year, such as exchange visits, needs assessments, monitoring and evaluation, food and indigenous seed trade fairs, and organizing quarterly meetings for information sharing.
RAAP’s primary goal is to create a platform that facilitates collaboration, knowledge exchange, and collective action, all aimed at building sustainable food systems and resilient communities in the Rwenzori region.
RAAP partners with over 20 stakeholders, including ISSD, IDP, JESE, MMU, KRC, IFDC, BD, and Uganda Martyrs University, among others, to achieve its mission.
