Local leaders report that incidents of house break-ins, livestock theft, and armed robberies have escalated significantly, disrupting the daily lives of residents.
Alleluyah Gorret, a resident says they are losing their hard-earned property. She revealed how thieves have constantly stolen her livestock and she no longer feels safe, even at her own home.
Birungi Zaveriyo, who represented the local council and one chairperson, expressed his frustration over what he perceives as inadequate police presence and response. Despite repeated calls for increased security measures, he feels that the authorities have not done enough to address the issue.
Chance Robert, blamed the security officials for unfairly handling their reported cases as they always end up releasing the arrested people after getting bribed.
Kaliija Mugisa Chris, the Giso Harugongo sub county acknowledged the growing problem and assured residents that efforts are being made to combat the crime wave.
However, he urged the community to remain vigilant and report the cases in time so that they can do their job perfectly.
