The body of Rev. Fr. George William Mugenyi has been laid to rest at St. John Mary Vianny cemetery.
While preaching to mourner who turned up for burial ceremony of Fr. George William held at Bishop’s residence in Fort Portal city, msgr Peter Kumaraki asked mourners to repent their sins if they are to enter the kingdom of God.
He asked them to accept God and his son Jesus Christ for their salvation.
He described Fr. George William as a person who was trying to be near God through the sacrament of penance.
The Bishop of Fort Portal catholic diocese Rt. Rev. Dr. Robert Muhiirwa asked mourners to follow the SOPs as one way of fighting the spread of covid 19. He also asked them to go for vaccination.
Fr. George William was ordained priest in 1992 by late Rt. Rev. Paul Kalanda, served as a teacher at St. Mary’s minor seminary, Diocesan education secretary, curate Wekomiire parish, Curate Kakabara parish among others. He served as a priest for 28 years.
He succumbed with Colon cancer at Holy Family hospital Virika at the age of 61.
