The cows that were distributed to the residents of Rwengaju Sub-County, Kabarole District by the government through Operation Wealth Creation program-OWC have began yielded results, as some beneficiaries say they have helped them to improve their household income.
Baguma John one of the beneficiaries and a resident of Kicuna A, Kicuna Parish, Rwengaju Sub-County said that the cow that he received from the government, has helped him to educate his children, and to buy what he wants in the family.
Speaking to our reporter, Baguma said that he gets nine liters of milk from the cow a day. He is therefore commending the government for supporting residents with cows.
However, Amanyire Brian and Birungi Mary all residents of Rwengaju Sub-County said that the cows have not helped people to raise from poverty, noting that the cows that were given to them were of poor quality.
Agaba Richard the Animal Husbandry Officer Rwengaju Sub County said that in 2019, government distributed 150 cows to residents to help them fight poverty from their families. He noted that many beneficiaries are now testifying that these cows have helped them to fight poverty at their household level.
Agaba asked all the beneficiaries to look after their animals so as to benefit a lot from them.
