Due to the current public outcry over water scarcity in North division Fort Portal City, Rwenzori Aid a Non-governmental organization [NGO], is set to renovate over 13 boreholes and shallow wells in 13 wards, that make up North division fort portal city.
According to Amon Murungi, the executive director Rwenzori Aid, this has been done in a bid to prevent people from using unclean water resulting in sanitary diseases.
Division Mayor Hails Rwenzori Aid For the Act
Speaking during the opening of water rehabilitation in Rwenkuba Nyakarongo, Joseph Mashuhuko the Fort Portal North division mayor, disclosed that 5% of people in the division lack safe and clean water due to lack of water sources.
He explained that the majority of water sources like the boreholes, shallow wells among others have been spoiled leading to drinking unsafe water resulting in diseases.
Mashuhuko further commended Rwenzori Aid for the charity Act, calling upon other organizations to borrow a leaf and help the local person.

Another North division resident only identified Kemigisa, expressed her fear of contracting waterborne diseases in the process, given the fact that she has been sharing the well with animals ever since their shallow well got spoiled.
