The Rwenzori West police are currently deep into an investigation surrounding the brutal murder of a senior couple in Kyenjojo, allegedly at the hands of their casual worker.
The spokesperson for Rwenzori West police, Twesige Vincent, has officially identified the victims as Kiiza Ivan, a 77-year-old retired veterinary officer from Kiguza Village in Kyakaboyo Parish, Katooke Sub County, Kyenjojo District, and Kiiza Eva, a 70-year-old retired primary school teacher residing in the same location.
Twesige reveals that the elderly couple had been living together as husband and wife, with only their grandchildren attending school in the boarding section and two hired workers assisting them with household chores.
The Incident
The shocking incident is believed to have occurred in the month of September when the couple had hired a casual worker named Friday alias Munyarwanda, and another unidentified woman to assist them with their domestic tasks.
The horrifying discovery was made by Musinga David, who had scheduled work with Mrs. Kiiza that morning. Upon his arrival, he stumbled upon the lifeless bodies of the elderly couple, prompting him to immediately contact the authorities.
At the time the police arrived at the scene, both of the hired workers were surprising absent. A significant clue was found when a trained canine was brought to the crime scene.
The dog circled around the lifeless bodies and eventually led investigators to a room suspected to belong to one of the workers, Friday the Munyarwanda.
Inside, the canine discovered a bed-sheet stained with what is believed to be blood.
Twesige further disclosed that the police have collected several pieces of evidence, including machetes, gumboots, bed sheets, and a mobile phone.
The bodies of the deceased have been transported to Fort Portal Regional Referral Hospital for a thorough postmortem examination.
As of now, no arrests have been made, and the police are intensifying efforts to locate and apprehend the suspects. They urge the local community to promptly report any sightings or information related to the case.
