Rwenzori West Police are investigating the circumstances surrounding the robbery of 3.3 million shillings from a mobile money agent in Kasusu A, Kasusu Ward, Central Division, Fort Portal Tourism City. The identity of the victim has been withheld for security reasons.
According to Twesige Vincent, the Rwenzori West police spokesperson, the armed robbers attacked the mobile money agent around 10 p.m. yesterday, just as she was arriving home.
Twesige explained that the robbers, after taking the money, fled the scene. He added that the suspects were first observed at the scene before the robbery, and they fired bullets during the incident. Fortunately, the victim survived the attack, as police arrived in time to prevent further harm.
Twesige has also urged mobile money business owners and the public to remain vigilant, particularly as we approach the holiday season.
