In Rutete sub-county, Kabarole district, a calamity has struck, leaving residents in over six villages counting their losses.
The destructive force of heavy winds has ravaged their crop gardens and banana plantations, leading to widespread devastation.
According to Mr. Baguma Patrick Alias Omusomesa, a resident of Mabira, the disaster unfolded as heavy rains combined with powerful winds, beginning yesterday around 5:00 PM. The aftermath was nothing short of devastating, with crops like maize, beans, Irish potatoes, cassava, and banana plantations being laid to waste.
The affected villages include Mabira, Kyamusa, Kanyandahi, Mituli, and several others, leaving the residents in a state of despair. They are now calling on the government to provide assistance, as they fear the looming threat of hunger in the near future.
The plight of the residents is a testament to the destructive power of the winds, and they hope for swift intervention to alleviate their suffering.
In the pursuit of more information, our reporter attempted to contact relevant government officers for comments, but their absence from their offices made it impossible to gather official responses at this time.
