The body of Rev.Sr. Mary Tuhaise Abooki 41, a Munyatereza nun has finally been buried yesterday , a day after her death.
Sr Tuhaise,a nurse who succumbed to breast cancer at Mulago Cancer Institute Kampala on Friday August 11,was laid to rest on Sunday August 13, at Banyatereza Sisters cemetery Kinyamasika, in Fort Portal City, in a highly attended burial by the religious, Clergy, relatives and friends.
In his homily to mourners, Msgr. Isaiah Mayombo Adyeri the Vicar general Fort Portal diocese, who presided over the send -off Mass, called upon believers to stop living in fear and to put their entire trust in God the maker of heaven and earth.
“We must do away with living in fear. It is a sign of the devil that diverts us from the Lord. God’s children must be strong in all situations with God at Center.” Said Mayombo .
Tuhaise hailed for being strong
In her Eulogy, Rev.Sr.Paula Kunihira the Banyatereza Vicaress, noted that Sr.Tuhaise had battled with breast Cancer for the last three years, but has been patient in her pain till the last hour.
Yasinta Kabonesa, the mother to the deceased, said that Sr Tuhaise being her only offspring, has been her father, mother and child at the same time.
She lauded the Catholic Church for nurturing her daughter, and Banyatereza for caring for her, treating her and standing with her up to the last minute.
Miss Kabonesa, thanked family for standing with her in the trying moment but asked Christians to pray for her daughter to rest in Peace.
The Mother General Banyatereza, Sr Seraphin Kaitesirwa, described the late as obedient and jolly servant of God who gladly served wherever she was sent, on top of holding her nursing profession at heart.
She said that even at her death bed, Sr Mary was still prescribing drugs and giving medical advice to her colleagues.
“Despite her physical pain, Sr Mary has been caring about her colleague’s lives. Being a nurse, she would offer medical advice to the sick sisters on top of encouraging them. We have lost a young devoted lady,” Lamented Sr Kaitesirwa.
In the trying moment, the mother General asked for prayers from the public, disclosing that three more sisters are in a relatedly worrying condition.
Meanwhile, Sr Annociata Maria 85, also a Munyatereza, expressed concern over the death of such a young devoted lady, saying that cancer has worryingly put the world on tension.
Sr Tuhaise Brief Biography
Born in 1982 in Nyamwamba division, Rukoki outstation Kasese Diocese Kasese district, Sr Tuhaise has served as religious for only 18 years and 18 months. She served Yerya and Kahunge Parishes as a sacristan and other responsibilities, Nkuruba Health center Virika Hospital, and finally Rwibaale health Center as a hospital Incharge and leader of sisters, from where she moved to treat Cancer in 2020 at Lubaga road Banyatereza Convent in Kampala.
