The National Unity Platform (NUP) has released the list of its successful flag bearers in Central Region constituencies after another round of re-evaluation.
Among the successful candidates is Muhammed Ssegirinya who has been handed the Kawempe North ticket, seeing off competition from Sulaiman Kidandala.
Journalist Bashir Kazibwe has also saw off competition from former Makerere University guild president, Roy Ssemboga to win the party flag in Kawempe South.
Speaking to Nile Post shortly after his win, Ssegirinya said that the NUP board probably wanted his position to come as a big story.
Ssegirinya said: “This is a win for all suffering families and people who have always been ignored. I am here to serve each and every person in Kawempe North.”
Ssegirinya said that he will bring new ideas and will continually seek guidance from incumbent Latif Ssebagala who has represented Kawempe North in Parliament for over 20 years.
In Rubaga North, NUP handed the flag to KCCA speaker Kawalya ahead of the incumbent, Moses Kasibante. Kasibante was part of a group of DP members who crossed enmasse to NUP in August.
