Stanbic bank Fort Portal branch on Saturday October 8, 2022, donated hospital items to Kabarole Hospital. The donation follows the campaign dubbed “Every mother counts“, which Stanbic has decided to undertake as they observe 160 years of existence.
The items donated, include 8 blood pressure machines, 2 patient trouleys, 2 delivery beds for mothers, 200 mama kits, 46 mosquito nets,and 6 mattresses.
About the campaign
According to Japheth Katto, the Chairman Stanbic Bank holdings Uganda ltd, the Every mother campaign, has been carefully chosen to act as part of the solutions to maternal mortality, but also as away of giving back to community.
The campaign is set to take part in about 23 Ugandan health facilities including Kabarole hospital.
“In addition to financial services, we must support our clients health wise in particular our mothers. So our statistics based research indicates maternal mortality as one of the common death causes, an area we have decided to show our support.” noted Katto
Healthy Community, healthy clients
Before delivering the equipment to Kabarole hospital Management, Davis Musinguzi, the manager Stanbic bank Fort Portal branch, remarked that the bank has decided to give back to community, by prioritizing their Client’s lives, saying healthy community yields healthy businesses.
Musinguzi, further noted that mothers still face hardships in accessing hospital services leading to accelerated statistics of maternal mortality. Much as there are other urgent areas to support,
He revealed that their bank chose to give out necessary maternal items, to save mother’s lives in the country.
Kabarole admin decries hiked medical prices
Edward Mugisha, the Kabarole hospital director lauded Stanbic bank for the act of responsibility exhibited.
He however noted that the hospital is currently undergoing through financial challenges following increased prices of hospital equipment, which hinders service delivery.
” Much as these services are subsidized to cater for all sorts of people in the community, the costs that come along with them always leave the hospitals in a financial quagmire. We for instance have a diesel generator we use to run our x-rays when power is off, and you can imagine how costly it is with the current fuel prices” said Mugisha.
Bishop Kisembo warns on Corruption and mismanagement
Bishop Rauben Kisembo Amooti of Ruwenzori diocese, credited Stanbic bank for the gesture of humanity by donating hospital equipment including equipment for saving mothers when bringing into life more lives.
Bishop Kisembo, however implored the staff Kabarole hospital to keenly observe customer care, because patients come to be comforted and not to be insulted.
He further warned the workers on corruption characterised by misusing and taking away the given equipment, saying it should specifically serve the purpose of saving lives in hospitals.
