Almost all tertiary institutions in Fort portal have adhered to the Ministry of Health request to secure vaccination centers for their students by utilizing the available vaccination centers near their respective institutions.
The chairperson Uganda Pentecostal University (UPU) Covid task force Lincoln Kanyesigye has confirmed to our reporter that the students at UPU are luckily secure with Muchwa Health center III being in the university premises. He said that the University has agreed with Muchwa Health center and no doubt special priority has been given to the students and lectures in line with vaccination.
Kanyesigye adds that at least 60% of the students are vaccinated of which 40%came vaccinated and 20% have accessed the vaccine via the University arrangements. He also says Muchwa being a health center has to attend to all citizens which slows down the number of students to be vaccinated but hopes the remaining percentage to be vaccinated in a week’s time.
Brian Kisembo, the academic registrar FINS School Of Nursing & Midwifery has also established that their institution work hand in hand with Fort portal regional referral hospital to vaccinate their students with so far 70% of the students vaccinated and the 30% looking forward to vaccinate.
Mrs Scovia Mugisa also Academic registrar has equally said all is well with Virika School Of Nursing with 100% staff and students fully vaccinated identifying Muchwa Health center III to have been vital in this activity.
According to the available condition, students seem to have taken heed of Covid vaccination before reporting back to their institutions which has made the work easier for their leaders. Mary Grace Tuhaise deputy principal Rosa Mystica Institute says that 85% of their recieved students are vaccinated and the remaining percentage will be sent to Kasusu health center for vaccination.
On Friday November 12 2021, National council for higher education sent emails to different tertiary institutions instructing to coordinate with their respective DHO’s and make sure each student is vaccinated against Covid19as soon as possible.
