The king of Tooro, Oyo Nyimba Kabamba Iguru Rukidi IV has on Friday May 19, 2023 appointed a cabinet of 24 ministers.
The new Cabinet
The newly appointed cabinet shall be to be headed by the prime minister Steven Kiyinji, deputized by Harriet Nyakake who will also take charge of culture and gender.
William Kamara, takes on as the deputy premier in charge of finance and administration, Bamanyisa Patrick Black as full information minister, Katuramu George Lands minister, Kantu Joan Tourism, Kabongoya Bala Edward finance, Kamulindwa Patrick minister for Youths, and Michael wandera sports,
Sunday Rusoke becomes the minister local government, Sabiti David takes charge of Agriculture , whereas Henry Basaliza Steven for foreign affairs among others.
Scrapped off ministerial positions
Those dropped include; James Mugenyi former minister for Portfolio, Journalist Vincent Mugume former deputy minister for information, and Journalist Charles Mwanguhya Mpagi the minister for information.
Professor Namara former minister for Education was dropped as well, Bahemuka Levi former minister for planning, and Muganda Herbert former minister Local government
Other ministers who have lost their positions are outgoing 2nd deputy PM Steven Tinka and 3rd deputy PM Patrick Mugazi who was also in charge of security.
Immediately after appointment, the ministers were taken to the palace where they were sworn in by the chief magistrate.
Oyo calls for Unity
King Oyo, has tasked the newly appointed ministers to front unity in developing the kingdom.
While speaking to the media, James Mugenyi who was not re-considered in the current reshuffle, commended the king for the chance given to him to serve the kingdom with one heart.
Mugenyi explained that being dropped, will not stop the kingdom from moving on but rather wishes the newly appointed a successful term.
Kiyinji unhappy with Kingdom Defiants
Steven Kiyinji, the Tooro premier in the very meeting, lashed at those who are intimidating him on accusations of illegal actions.
He further declared war on those defying the kingdom.
According to him, Tooro kingdom has never had any working constitution, stating that the kingdom only works on its traditions and cultural norms.
