Tooro kingdom And Ministry Of Health Sign MoU.

Tooro kingdom and the ministry of health have signed a memorandum of understanding as one way to improve health service and end disease burden among the people of Tooro.

The MoU was signed by Tooro kingdom Prime Minister Owek Bernard Tungwako and Permanent secretary in the ministry of health Dr. Diana Atwine at the kingdom palace in Fort portal city yesterday.

The King of Tooro Oyo Nyimba Kabamba Iguru Rukidi IV thanked the ministry for the partnership, adding that the kingdom will use has gazetted a piece of land in Kitagwenda district where it will construct a specialized hospital to help people in remote areas get health services.

Tungwako said the Kingdom will start with a campaign of sensitizing the community to start by testing body organs like the kidney, Heart, lungs among others to tackle the Kingdom’s challenge of people dying of hepatitis B, heart failure and other internal organ failures.

Dr. Atwine was flanked by other officials from ministry of health including Director General health services Dr. Henry Mwebesa, Dr. Richard Mugahi, Richard Kabanda commissioner in charge of health promotion and disease prevention among others.
