In a nail-biting third match of the Tooro Kingdom MTN Amasaza Cup 3rd Edition, Bunyangabu and Kibale county teams battled to a 1-1 draw at the Kibiito P/S play ground yesterday. The highly anticipated match, sponsored by MTN Uganda, drew a large crowd of enthusiastic fans, including the Minister for Gender and Culture, Peace Regis Mutuuzo, and Tooro Kingdom officials.
The first half saw Ivan Ahereza from Kibale team score the opening goal, sending the host team Bunyangabu into a frenzy. The second half seemed destined to end scoreless for both teams until Ivan Kisembo scored a crucial equalizer for Bunyangabu in the 90th minute, following a penalty.
Kibale coach, Brian Walusimbi expressed concerns over several irregularities in favor of the host team and questioned the timing of the penalty. Despite this, he remains optimistic about his team’s chances in the next match.
Honorable Minister Peace Regis Mutuuzo, who supported the match with a generous donation of 500,000 Shs, pledged an additional 100,000 Shs for each goal scored by Bunyangabu during the game.
Aggrey Byaruhanga, the MTN representative, emphasized the importance of HIV awareness and prevention in the region, thanking the attendees for their support and promising continued backing from MTN.
