Tooro kingdom led by the Prime Minister Owek.Bernard Tungakwo have responded to a section of Babiito clan elders from Tooro Kingdom on allegations of some Kingdom officials including the Queen Mother, and the King for mismanaging The Kingdom properties.
In a press briefing held in Muchwa Council Chambers on Tuesday, The Minister for Lands and Housing Polly Kateba described the allegations as null and void. Kateba disclosed that the queen mother has never sold any land title thus the Kingdom has all 17 land titles.
Kateba also mentioned that the King has never transferred Kingdom titles into his names saying that this is being done to tarnish the King’s name. He has further warned the group asking them to provide evidence or else they may be dragged to court.
Bernard Tungakwo stated that the meeting that passed the resolutions is not recognized since it was not attended by all Babiito. He has said that these Babiito are opportunists and are targeting the President who is soon coming to the Region.
He Continued that this group of Babiito has been long enemies of the kingdom But they will not manage their fights.
In a zoom meeting organized at Kalya Court’s Hotel in Fort Portal City on Saturday, the elders showed concern of the internal Governance challenges in the Kingdom like mismanagement of land, finance and other resources, transferring of rights of principal signatories of the Kingdom accounts to the Queen Mother and her Relatives.
They heated hard about the weak Administration structures mostly The interference of the Queen Mother in the Management of the Kingdom affairs.
