Tooro Leaders Task Government To Compensate Kicwamba ADF Victims.

By Lucky Patrick.

Fort Portal City Woman MP Linda Irene and Bwamba county MP Gafabusa Richard have tasked the government of Uganda to fast track the compensation of victims of the 1998 Kicwamba Massacre by ADF bandits.

This is contained in a petition written by the two Mps dated 25th August 2021 and addressed to the government through the Attorney General and the Ministry of Justice and Constitution Affairs.

The MPs say, during the insurgency that ravaged various districts across Tooro region between 1996-2000, a lot of lives were lost, property destroyed and others displaced.

They say, even though the government refurbished and rehabilitated Kicwamba technical institute, students and the affected members of the community were not compensated.

On June 8, 1998, ADF rebels raided Kicwamba technical institute in Kabarole district burning 80 students and led to the abduction of over 100 others.

It is now 23years since the horrendous massacre but the attack remains a bad experience to survivors of the attack.
