Following the ongoing wrangles between political and technical leadership of Kabarole and Fort portal city, a section of stakeholders from Tooro have intervened to forge a way forward.
This was during the Fort Portal city and Kabarole district leaders retreat held at Lisieux hotel on November 12, 2022 organized by Kabarole research and resource center and the inter religious council of Tooro region .
The IRC, was represented by the Bishop of Ruwenzori diocese Rt. Rev. Reuben Kisembo , and Tooro elders forum represented by Rev. Fr. Pascal Kabura.
Reportedly, the retreat was organized under Securing unity among leaders for better service delivery.
Bishop Kisembo, observed that there is increased corruption that has undermined service delivery in Kabarole and Fort Portal portrayed through exchange of money for job appointments, awarding of project contracts on directive from the central government, funds transferred from central government among others.
He appealed delegates resolved to condemn all forms of corruption and agreed to jointly work towards fighting it.

During interaction, Members discovered that there is habitual staff absenteeism and late coming, increasing cases of impunity and disrespect between technical and political at all levels.
It was also discovered in the same meeting that Media houses whose names were not mentioned, have apparently been used as battle grounds to settle political differences, public land grabbing and engaging in sale of land that is not fare.
What actually happens is that successful political aspirants have taken to undermining the current leadership and promoting division among leaders whereby some leaders hire some people whom have been termed as hit men to sabotage their fellows.

Stake holders to establish a peace making platform
The meeting resolved that there should be a platform for reconciliation and healing for unsuccessful aspirants, fighting sectarianism.
Media houses that have been influential in tightening political differences, were also requested to avoid giving space to the fighting leaders among others.
In a press conference that was held at KRC yesterday, the stakeholders were asked if the meeting has yielded any positive fruits, MSGR Isaya Mayombo the vicar general of the Fort Portal diocese representing Bishop Robert K Muhirwa said that the process is ongoing.
The meeting was attended by all Mps from Fort Portal, all councilors at the city council, technocrats from Kabarole and Fort portal among others.
